Join us for an herbal medicine making class focused on herbal incense blending as an offering to the ancestors. Led by Kanchan Dawn Hunter, we will discuss plant energies for helping connection with ancestors. Together, each participant will practice and create a unique herbal incense blend.

Everyday Plant Medicine is a recurring twice-monthly Temple Freedom School class taught by Kanchan every other Saturday, featuring a new, seasonally and energetically aligned theme and topic each time.

Please bring a notebook or journal to take down information you find useful. This class will be held at Temple of Earth Apothecary — 536 Grand Ave in Oakland.

Kanchan Dawn Hunter is co-creator of the 1st Annual Women of Color Herbal Symposium and former co-director at Spiral Gardens Community Food Security Project which operates as a nursery, a community garden, a foodshed, and an education resource that welcomes anyone and all in the community to participate. Kanchan has had a deep connection with healing plants as long as she can remember. Her vision is to find us all connected with each other in service to Life and Earth who nourishes us all.

Accessibility

GENERAL ADMISSION: $45, no one turned away for lack of funds.

PAY WHAT YOU CAN: For this offering, a number of 'Pay What You Can' tickets are available for those who need them. We ask for a minimum of $9 if possible.

PAY IT FORWARD: All are welcomed to support the accessibility of our events by utilizing the Pay It Forward option and donating at any amount.

We are a Black queer mother and family run medicine project. It is always fundamental and imperative to Temple of Earth Apothecary that community healing experiences are accessible to those who need them regardless of financial access. We find it entirely integral that Black/Indigenous people of color get to share medicine in this space, and so we offer 'Pay What You Can' tickets to our Black/Indigenous relatives, at times naming specific sub-groups (see above). We are much owed by way of wealth stolen from us and our ancestors. We view the return of our lands, wealth, health and ways as a matter of justice and one of inevitability, as we intend to help facilitate it. Those who are called to return our money back to us can use the ‘Pay It Forward’ option to tithe in and support the space, our practitioners, facilitators and shop keepers.⛲️

For reciprocity and sustainability we will often ask for a minimum donation. If our minimum ask is not currently within reach, we understand ~ please write to us at info@templeofearthapothecary.com.
